Mint Magic – Why This Soft Green Dress Is Perfect for Garden Weddings

So this mint green dress has been my go‑to for every wedding I’ve been to this year. I wore it to my friend’s garden ceremony last weekend and some random lady came up and said I looked “like a dream” – which was nice, but also a little awkward cause I had cake on my shoe. Anyway, I’m obsessed.

The fabric is crazy soft. Like, pajama soft. I’ve had formal dresses before that felt like cardboard after an hour, but this one just moves with you.

No pinching at the waist, no weird gaping at the chest, and the stretchy knit kind of hugs everything without squeezing too tight. The short sleeves are a nice bonus too; they cover the upper arm jiggle but still look summery and light for outdoor stuff.

The color is what really pops though. It’s this soft seafoam mint that looks amazing next to flowers and green grass.

At the wedding they had this big floral arch with pink roses and some purple spikey flowers (I don’t know their names, not a plant person), and the plus size formal dress stood out perfectly without screaming “look at me.” It’s not dull or washed out, and it seems to flatter every skin tone – I’ve seen it on a few different friends now and it works on all of them.

Now the catch if you’re short like me – I’m 5’0. The skirt came down so long I tripped twice just walking from my car. I measured and had to chop off almost seven inches, which is ridiculous. Even after that it still brushes the floor gently, so the formal vibe stays. But the fabric is a tight knit that feels amazing and absolutley destroyed my home sewing machine.

I tried hemming it myself and the needle kept jamming, thread tangling everywhere – total disaster. I had to take it to my elderly neighbor lady's house who has a better machine than me. It jammed on her machine too until she got out her specialty needle for knits. Then we got through the hem. It still wasn't easy, but it finally did work. So fair warning: if you don’t have heavy duty gear, just pay a tailor. It’s worth the twenty bucks, don’t fight it like I did.

For accessories I kept it simple – nude block heels (grass friendly), thin gold earrings, and a tiny black clutch that matched my date’s dark iced tea in our photos.

Nothing fancy. When it got chilly later I threw on a cream wrap and it looked fine without bulking me up.

Even with all that hemming trouble, I’ve worn this to four events already and gotten so many compliments. It’s comfy, it’s flattering, and the mint color just works. I’m definately grabbing it again for every outdoor party from now on – just factor in that alteration trip if you’re petite like me. Totally worth it.
