BJ’s Prom in Red – Perfect Fit, Happy Memories
There’s no joy quite like watching your grandbaby head off to his first prom, and last weekend I got to soak in every second of that with my little BJ and his cousin. The best part? Our matching red outfits all came from Kemedress—and I swear, every piece fit right out the box like it was made for us. No returns, no panicked last-minute alterations.
Let me brag on BJ first. That boy picked out a burgundy three-piece set—vest, slim pants, crisp white shirt, and a little satin bow tie—and paired it with white sneakers and those trendy sunglasses the kids love. I was so scared the suit would drown him or pull weird, but nope. It sat perfect on his shoulders, the pants hit just right, and he strutted around like a little king all night. Not one baggy spot.
His cousin, our little princess, wore a sleeveless red dress from the same place, with beaded heart details around the waist and a ruffly tulle skirt that swished when she ran. She had gold hair clips that caught the sun by the fountain, and she kept twirling in her white sneakers. The bodice didn’t gape, the skirt wasn’t dragging—honestly, I couldn’t believe a kids' dress could fit that well without any fixing.
And me? I found a sleeveless red lace chiffon dress with a soft lace overlay on top and a flowy skirt that moved nice for photos. I threw on white platform sneaks, some gold jewelry, and my tinted glasses, and we were a full red family squad. The waist didn’t pinch, the seams laid flat, and I felt just as pretty as the youngsters.

We took pictures by the car first, then downtown near that old mural fountain, and I lost count of how many strangers stopped to say we looked like we’d stepped out of a magazine.

I told every single one of them where we got our dresses and suits—because seriously, I’ve ordered formal wear before and always ended up rushing to a tailor, but this time?

BJ’s vest, my dress, the girl’s tulle gown—all true to size, straight from the package. No hemming, no taking in, no swapping sizes. We were picture-ready the minute we unboxed.
Watching BJ pose with his cousin, both glowing in red that actually fit, made this whole prom milestone so much sweeter. That night was one for the books, and I’m so gratefull we didn’t have to stress over a single ill-fitting seam. Just pure, happy memories.
